Post Apartheid

Many inhabitants of Southern Africa are feeling very anxious about the direction their country is headed. Many corrupt officials, and a high crime rate are holding the country back. They still cannot let go of their racial issues. Many people will make comments on the desperate condition of their country, and worry about what will happen.

The United States had suffered something similar to apartheid, but they are much better off socialy and economically. For the most part, the United States has put aside its racial issues. They still exist, but only in small ways. Fourteen years after apartheid, many inhabitants of South Africa feel that their country is in a desperate state. Crime and poor economic conditions are tearing apart many families in Southern Africa. In the United States, a more stable economic condition has been achieved. One in which discrimination is not a major factor because of past events.

Racial issues do not exist in the United States the way the still do in Souther Africa. Crime is a huge factor. Many people in South Africa do not feel that their government or police force can protect them anymore. The number of deaths is rising, and people do not know what there is to do about it.

In the United states, people are able to co-exist more peacefully. Crime is still a factor, but not so much a part of everyday life as it is in Southern Africa. Obviously the United States has done a better job of reconstructing their country after such a horrible time. Apartheid lasted about 40 years, while the civil war lasted only 4. There is not as much tension.

I think it is a shame that this country is experiencing so much hardship. Something should be done to end all the violence, and rebuild the country the right way. There is not enough structure. The United States is not perfect, but it is a good example of how reconstruction can be done right.

I also don't understand why they are still having so many problems. I think that if the U.S can come to what it is now why can't africa. The Apartheid lasted 40 years but to this day they are still having problems. I just don't understand it but I know I don't know what is really going on over there. Yes, the US still has its flaws but no country or continent for that matter or even any state will be perfect.

BIG BIRD!

your blog is the best. yup. First off inhabitants, is a NICE word. But its a shame that people can't let go of the race thing. exspecaily in south africa. i mean, you think africa, mostly black. But its more than that. And it stinks how their ecomny is and how they lived all this time under white power just like the US.

Hey tommy. Your blog was great. I loved your topic and how you backed it up. I learned a lot. The Apartheid was no joke in Africa. A lot of people were killed and hurt when it was going on. I also like how you tuched on racial issues and how you said that it still exsists. I totally agree with you on that. It does still exsists. Sometimes myself and other students my race have to deal with it but it is always going to be there. I am just really glad we aren't the only one who recognize it.

Good blog. You had a lot of information in your blog that helped me read and understand it. You didn't use a ridiculous amount of facts and you used some of your own knowledge which was really good.

Great blog about the Apartheid in Southern Africa. Yes, the Apartheid did last for 40 years in Africa but it was still wrong of them. Many countries in the world has no law enforcement and they can do whatever they want to. But in the United States its not like that. We do have law enforcement, but our law enforcement is strict on every little thing we do. Good job
